Satyameva Jayate " Truth alone triumphs"

I got my Indian passport reissued recently . I was totally excited to receive it (thanks to Jiju). Well wasn't too happy about my photograph but think about it, this always happens. When you want a nice picture on your driving license or passport or any other imp document, you have bad hair day or your picture is dark and the best one..even though you give your best shot somehow it turns out to be" ahh..not one of your great pics". Moving on, so I went through all the pages and as I glanced at our national and read the term "Satyameva Jayate", I suddenly had a sense of peace as if I never noticed these words before . Simple yet beautiful and strong words. I wanted to write a few things from Mun-da-ka Upanishad from where this motto was taken originally. This one people is truly inspiring and straight from Pandora !

The Mundaka Upanishad is one of a genre of Hindu scriptures written by Shankara. Shankara was an Indian philosopher who consolidated the doctrine of Hindu scripts. The Mundaka Upanishad's only objective is to teach the highest knowledge, which is imparted in the scripts.This Upanishad divides all knowledge into two categories. The knowledge that leads to Self Realization is called Para Vidya (Great or Divine Knowledge) and everything else is called Apara Vidya or Knowledge of Material world.

These are some of quotes that captured my attention from the Upanishad;
    * The heavens are His head; the sun and moon, His eyes; the quarters, His ears; the revealed Vedas, His    speech; the wind is His breath; the universe, His heart. From his feet is produced the earth. He is, indeed, the inner Self of all beings
    * From Him come all the oceans and the mountains; from Him flow rivers of every kind; from Him have come, as well, all plants and flavours, by which the inner self subsists surrounded by the elements.
    * The fetters of the heart are broken, all doubts are resolved and all works cease to bear fruit, when He is beheld who is both high and low.
    * The sun does not shine there, nor the moon and the stars, nor these lightnings, not to speak of this fire. When He shines, everything shines after Him; by His light everything is lighted.

The famous quote from Mundaka Upnaishad;
Satyameva jayate nānrtam
Satyena panthā vitato devayānah
Yenā kramantyrsayo hyāptakāmā
Yatra tat satyasya paramam nidhānam

In devanāgarī :
सत्यमेव जयते नानृतम् सत्येन पन्था विततो देवयानः । येनाऽऽक्रमन्त्यृषयो ह्याप्तकामा यत्र तत् सत्यस्य परं निधानं ॥

Meaning:
Truth alone triumphs; not falsehood.
Through truth the divine path is spread out by which
The sages whose desires have been completely fulfilled,
Reach where that supreme treasure of Truth resides.

We are awarded with such wealth of knowledge through this simple quote!
